How do I edit a video thumbnail?

How to change the preview of a video that is displayed before it starts playing.

Updated over a week ago

A little cultural note: The Brothers "Lumières" invented video more than 100 years ago. The concept is simple: a sequence of images that gives an impression of movement!

Today, video is a widely used and very engaging communication channel . And one of the keys to encourage watching is: the thumbnail used in preview!

By default, when you upload a video, your Incenteev platform uses the first image of the video as thumbnail. It's simple and requires no effort. However, you can have bad surprises: this first image is sometimes a grimace, a black screen, or something else that does not highlight the video.

How to customize the thumbnail?

Manually, you can choose to customize the thumbnail of your videos!

Here is how to do it 👇

  • Go to the "document" tab

  • Click on the video file you want to edit (If it is stored in a particular library, then you will have to go to it)

  • Click on the icon representing the three lines on the right then on "Edit"

You can then customize the "highlighted image":

  • "Upload an image": allows you to use the image of your choice.

  • "Disable preview": allows you to use the video icon as a thumbnail.

  • "Use default thumbnail": generates the first frame of the video as a thumbnail.

Now you are ready to get the most out of your videos :)

See you soon on Incenteev! 😃
