Understanding the different ways to aggregate in the indicators

Three types of aggregation exist in the computation of an indicator. We explain it to you here.

When configuring and indicator on Incenteev, you must choose between three types of aggregation:

  1. No aggregation

  2. By team

  3. By role

We explain you what it means 👇

To illustrate the different use cases, let's take the example of this hierarchy:

  • A hierarchical level called "Regional Management", with every regional management of France as roles, including the "Brittany management" one.

  • A hierarchical level called "Sub-regional agency", attached to the latter, with every sub-regional agency as roles, including the following (subdivisions of Brittany, France):

    • "Finistère agency"

    • "Côtes-d'Armor agency"

    • "Morbihan agency"

    • "Ille-et-Vilaine agency"

The different ways to aggregate:

  • No aggregation: in that case, the results of the team members are not added. Only results directly allocated to the team are displayed (it is for instance usefull when the objectives of a region are not necessarily equals to the sum of the annual objectives of the members of that region).

  • By team: aggregate the results of members from the same team (i.e. a role and all the attached roles: for instance, the "Brittany management" role and all the related sub-regional roles ("Finistère agency", "Morbian agency"...).

    • Note:
If you want, it is possible not to select all the teams that are existing in your organization, but only a few.
To do so, check the option called "Choose the levels involved in the individual result aggregation".
You can then select the teams of your choice.

For instance, you want to aggregate the number of client meetings per region realized by the sales. Yet, sales managers can also do meetings. In that case, filter so you only have the levels you are interested in: sub-regional agencies.

  • By role: aggregate only the results of members of the same role (for instance, you shall use that type of aggregation if this time you want to have only the results of sales managers).

That's it, you know all there is to know about aggregation! Still needs to choose the one that fits your use and you'll be done.

See you soon Incenteev ! 😀
