How do I build the Hierarchy file?
Updated over a week ago

The Hierarchy file defines the hierarchical structure that will rule your platform. It is composed of several hierarchical levels and roles that will determine the position of the users in the hierarchy of your platform.

Example of a hierarchy:

Matching Hierarchy file:

Here are the steps to follow to build your Hierarchy file:

Step #1: Download the blank hierarchy file

Go to the star wheel on the right top corner of the window :

  • Organization Administration

  • Manage Hierarchy

  • Upload a Hierarchy File

You will then be able to click on "Download a template file" and it will appear automatically on your downloads. You will only have to fill this one in. We will guide you through the different columns below.

Step #2: Define the hierarchical levels of your organization

In the platform, the different layers of your organization's hierarchy are represented by what we call "hierarchical levels."
The name of these levels must be typed in lowercase, without any accents, in the "Level" column of your Hierarchy file.

Step #3: Define the hierarchical roles

A hierarchical role is a hierarchical level sub-category. It identifies all the people in your organization who do the same job.
Example: In the above hierarchy file, there are 2 roles in the hierarchical level "Region": "Region South" and "Region North."
For each hierarchical role, the following columns must be filled:

  • Role name: Type the name that you want the platform to display for each role.

  • Role ID (lowercase, no accent): The role ID can be an ID or code you already use in your organization - to identify your points of sale for example. These IDs will be used in the User file to match each user with his or her hierarchical role.

  • Superior role ID: Each role must be linked to its superior(s) in the hierarchy. In the "ID of superior" column, type the ID of the superior role (lowercase, no accent).

Congratulations you filled your first hierarchy file !

Next step: add your users and attach them to their respective roles: How to fill the Users file?

See you soon on Incenteev ! 😃
